THE San Jose Sharks won the NHL Lottery Draft – and some fans think the selection was planned.
The Sharks will pick first at the 2024 NHL Draft, where player Macklin Celebrini is the consensus No. 1 pick.
While Sharks fans celebrated, some hockey fans were outraged when the selection order of the 16 teams matched the pre-draft order predictions almost exactly and slammed the lottery as "rigged" on social media.
"The #NHLDraft Lottery system is so rigged," one slammed on X, formerly known as Twitter, while other fans demanded to be shown the ping pong balls that decide the order.
"why do they not show us the ping pong balls? This has been the most worthless, boring tv I've ever seen. Let's grow the game…" one slammed as another wrote, "Show me the lotto balls."
"Is the @NHL draft rigged now ? How can every projections are 100% spot on ? Where was the draw we see with the balls is it me or this is sketchy ?" another added.
The 2024 NHL Draft will take place on June 28 and 29 at the Las Vegas Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada.
