England head to the Oval later this week in the knowledge that victory over Sri Lanka would not only complete a first home Test clean sweep in 20 years, but also resuscitate hopes of reaching another global final. Not since the 2004 season, when Michael Vaughan oversaw seven wins from seven, have an England side maintained a 100% record. Now, emulating that feat would come with the added bonus of securing a top-two finish in the World Test Championship - and qualification for a third final in six years, following the 50-over World Cup in 2019 and the Twenty20 version in 2022, as a result - alive.
