Collingwood has asked the AFL to exclude them from being involved in Opening Round for the 2026 season, according to reports. Channel Seven's Mitch Cleary told a broadcast on Wednesday that the Magpies were 'putting their foot down' and were 'done with playing Opening Round'. The basis for their plea to league bosses relates to having to travel interstate for the clash. The Magpies got their 2025 season off to a poor start after they were thumped by the Giants at the ENGIE Stadium.
