49ers vs. Eagles score, live updates: Niners, Philly meet in wild-card rematch of 2022 NFC Championship

San Francisco and Philadelphiawill do battle one more time in the postseason, this time for a chance to advance to the divisional round. The Eagles beat the 49ers in January 2023 in the NFC title game, 31-7. San Francisco bounced back to beat Philly the following December, 42-19. The three meetings between these teams have been played in Philadelphia, with the Niners holding a 2-1 edge.

The 49ers had a rough patch in the middle of the season, going 3-3 following a 3-1 start. Sitting at 6-4 in November, some had begun to write the Niners off. But then the team got Brock Purdyback from injury and reeled off six consecutive winsbefore dropping the final game of the season to Seattle last week. That loss cost the 49ers the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage in the playoffs. With the Super Bowl in Santa Clara this year, San Francisco could have potentially played at home for the entire postseason.

Philadelphia won its third NFC East title in four years but also struggled down the stretch. The Eagles went 3-4 from Week 12 on and even lost three in a row during that time before bouncing back to win three straight. Philly closed the season with a loss to Washington due in large part to head coachNick Sirianni resting starters despite still having a chance to win the No. 2seed in the NFC.

  49ers, Eagles combine for 4 first-team All-Pro selections

  The Associated Press announced this years first- and second-team All-Pro selections this week, and unsurprisingly, the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers were represented.

  For the Niners, running back Christian McCaffrey and fullback Kyle Juszczyk were among first-team selections.

  It marks McCaffrey's third time being named first-team All-Pro, having most recently earned the honor in 2023, when he also won Offensive Player of the Year. McCaffrey ranked second in the league with 2,126 scrimmage yards, only behind Falcons running back Bijan Robinson, who was also named first-team All-Pro. Robinson finished the year with 2,298 scrimmage yards — the 12th-most in a single NFL season.

  Juszczyk made his 10th consecutive NFL Pro Bowl; this is his second season making first-team All-Pro, while also having been named second-team All-Pro last season.

  49ers starting left tackle Trent Williams notably made second-team All-Pro after three straight first-team selections in the 2021-2023 seasons.

  Cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean represented the first-team selections for the Eagles. Mitchell allowed the second-lowest NFL passer rating among cornerbacks in coverage this year (min. 500 coverage snaps) at 58.8, while DeJean ranked 10th at 71.7, per PFF.

  Eagles cornerbacks combined for a league-low 71.8 NFL passer rating allowed with a league-high 43 forced incompletions, tied with the Chiefs for a league-low four passing touchdowns allowed by cornerbacks, per PFF.
