Chris Tognoni administers the law andorder. The customary glove touch gets them started. Gatto paws withher jab, flirts with an overhand right and sneaks in an inside legkick. Kareckaite backs up the Brazilian with a one-two and leansinto the clinch along the fence. Short knees to the body fromGatto. Kareckaite holding position but not doing much with it. Shescores with an elbow and keeps Gatto pinned to the cage. Theyseparate. Gatto re-engages the clinch and works toward a trip.Kareckaite keeps her balance initially, then grabs the fence andlands on top. Tognoni stops the action and docks the Lithuanian apoint, then restarts them. They trade punches before Kareckaitedrives back into the clinch. Gatto turns her into the fence andlands an elbow. They trade knees to the body. Two minutes to go.Gatto shoots on the hips and tries for a takedown but winds up onthe bottom. Kareckaite sets up in full guard, and the actionstalls. Gatto hunts for an armbar but does not have the requisitespace. Kareckaite stays on top through the end of the round. Gatto clinches,whiffs on a trip, resets and clinches again. She continues to beatKareckaite to the punch. Gatto dives in and eats a left hook, thenmisses on a spinning attack. Kareckaite pops her with a head kick.Gatto clinches, absorbs a knee to the body and separates. Leg kickfrom Kareckaite, who follows with a one two. Gatto misfires on atrip and winds up on the bottom. Kareckaite sets up in full guard,then stands and kicks at the legs. Less than a minute to go inanother relatively uneventful round. Gatto clinches and pushes the Lithuanian to thefence. She lands a few knees to the body, then secures a triptakedown. Gatto moves to the back and sets one hook and then theother. Positive development for the Brazilian, who lost her way inthe second round. Gatto lands punches to the side of the head.Midway through the final round. She floats to the back again butloses one of the hooks. Gatto maintains position and threatens theneck. Ninety second left. Gatto settles in half guard, with hercounterpart squirming beneath her. The Brazilian slides to sidecontrol and drops a few elbows. Gatto jumps on an armbar in theclosing seconds but cannot lock it down. JasonHerzog adjudicates matters and beckons the two combatants forward.Zheleznyakova takes the center. Sharp one-two from Pereira. TheRussian answers with a multi-punch burst of her own. Pereira landsa side kick to the body, circles on the outside and unleashes bothhands. She charges forward behind power punches, eats some on thereturn and clinches. Knees to the body ensue. Pereira secures thetakedown and lands in half guard. She stays glued to the Russianbut fails to get off much offense, outside of a few shoulderstrikes. Two minutes to go. Action stalls. Pereira climbs to fullmount and drops elbows and punches, then advances to the backbefore returning to mount. Heavy hips from the Brazilian, who landsmore punches and elbows to close the round, opening a serious cutin the process. Zheleznyakova, having been examined by the cagesidephysician, tells Herzog she does not desire to continue.

American heavyweights keep the UFC Vegas 122 line moving, as Frye(6-1, 0-1 UFC) confronts the unbeaten Harris (6-0, 1-0 UFC) at 265pounds. The venerable Herb Dean polices the proceedings. Away theygo. Oblique kick to the thigh from Frye. Harris answers with aone-two and a leg kick. He follows with a jab and two more legkicks. Harris connects with an overhand right. Frye returns fire,then circles on the outside. Harris continues to work on the leadleg with kicks and stays busy with jabs and one-twos upstairs. Hepunches into the clinch and separates. Frye sneaks in a jab and aright cross. Halfway home in this round. Frye sticks him with aright hand and sends him into a state of retreat. Frye lands a lefthook, triples up on right hands, drives his opponent to the floorunder duress and mops up the rest with punches.

Bonfim uncorks a flying knee and sets off a punchingexchange between the two. Prado scores with a leg kick, resets andfires a front kick to the body. He sneaks in an uppercut and a lefthook, then cracks Bonfim with an overhand left. Prado uses themoment to complete a takedown and pairs it with knees to thethighs. Punches flow next. Two minutes to go. Bonfim gets to hisfeet, then takes a knee. More knees to the leg from Prado, whostays glued to the Brazilian and racks up easy points. Bonfim getsto his feet, only to be taken down again. Prado operates insidefull guard and lands a devastating elbow. He postures and punches,then continues to let the shots fly until Herzog has seenenough.
