Archer Jodie Grinham stepped onto the Paralympics winners' podium while seven months pregnant on Saturday night and said she hoped her achievement might inspire many other mothers-to-be. Grinham, who took bronze when her British opponent failed to land a final arrow, spent last weekend in a Paris hospital, after having concerns about her baby was not moving. But after relentless monitoring of the baby's heart and a training regime including preparing for its unexpected movements during competition, she declared last night that she would always be able to tell her as-yet unborn baby that he was 'the youngest child on a podium.

Mason Greenwood's French renaissance continues after the former Manchester United forward bagged a brace in under a minute for new club Marseille. The 22-year-old has now netted five goals in three appearances since switching Old Trafford for Stade Velodrome in July for a reported £19.8million fee. Greenwood opened the scoring between Marseille and Toulouse in the 16th minute, before rapidly adding another in under 60 seconds. The former United Academy product now shares the same goal tally in the first three games of a Ligue 1 season as another Mancunian – but one who played for blue half of Manchester.

Simpson - who played for Man United, Antwerp, Sunderland, Ipswich, Blackburn, Newcastle, QPR, Leicester, Huddersfield, Bristol City and Macclesfield before retiring from football in July - had only started training for this fight five weeks ago.

Turkish side Adanaspor broke the news in a statement released on X which read: 'Our Technical Director Souleymane Bamba, who fell ill before the Manisa Football Club match played yesterday, was taken to Manisa Celal Bayar University Hospital and unfortunately lost his battle for life there. 'Our condolences to his family and our community.
