Ben Spencer will make his first start for England, at the age of 32, against New Zealand on Saturday – as the Bath captain has won a three-way tussle for the vacant scrum-half place. With Alex Mitchell still recovering from a neck problem which saw him omitted from the national squad for the start of this Autumn Nations Series, head coach Steve Borthwick has opted to turn to a man who has won just six caps to date and played barely 80 minutes of Test rugby in total.
