More than six years ago, at the height of Sandpapergate, I wrote a piece which began with an unflattering description of David Warner – 'the most disliked player in the world's most disliked team'. It was harsh, for sure. And the Australians – under the more enlightened leadership of Pat Cummins and the less abrasive coaching of Andrew McDonald – no longer own that title. (It sometimes feels as if Bazball England have replaced them).
