On the day he was reappointed Celtic manager in the summer of 2023, Brendan Rodgers made it clear that achieving credibility in Europe was the biggest motivation in his decision to return to the club. Rodgers also vowed that he would see out the three-year contract he signed, unless those in the boardroom decided otherwise. In the bittersweet mix of heartbreak and pride that followed Celtic's Champions League exit in Munich on Tuesday night, it remains to be seen if Rodgers will ultimately extend his second spell at the helm.
