NFL 2026 Week 6 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Tyler Shough and Kirk Cousins bounce back

These are my biggest targets and fades for the Week 6 slate.

Even after a Week 5 "giga-bust", Shough should be back in our good graces this week. He gets a date with a Giants defense that ranks 23rd in EPA per dropback and is giving up the 12th-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Vegas is also back on board, giving the Saints a 23.5-point team total. Still running the league's fastest offense, Shough's volume-based fantasy scam should get back on track versus New York.

Streaming matchups don't get better than this. The Raiders have a 24.5 implied team total. They get a Buffalo defense that ranks 28th in EPA per dropback and is allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. The game's 53.5-point total is the highest of the week. To his credit, the play isn't purely about game environment. Cousins is currently the QB6 in fantasy points and the QB10 in EPA per play. This is simply a good player in a great game.

Most people should play Mahomes this week, but it's not a great spot for the GOAT. The Chargers are ninth in EPA per dropback allowed and the game has a total of 41.5, down five points from where it opened. The Chiefs' team total has fallen 2.5 points to 24.5. The Colts, Falcons, and Packers all have higher team totals. This also sets up as another phenomenal game for Kenneth Walker , as the Chargers have faced the fourth-lowest pass rate over expected this year. Mahomes is still a QB1, but this will be one of the weakest spots he's in this year.

Stroud has been stacking usable fantasy weeks, but that could come crashing to a halt in London on Sunday. The Jags' defense is second in the league in EPA per dropback allowed on the heels of an elite pass rush. They have generated pressure at the 10th-highest rate this year despite blitzing at a below-average clip. They're second in the league at generating quick pressure. When pressured, Stroud has simply gone hyper-conservative this year. He is averaging 4.8 YPA when pressured, which ranks 26th out of 37 qualified quarterbacks. Stroud currently has the eighth-highest pressure-to-sack rate.

Chris Brooks is out of the picture and Kaleb Johnson was sent to the shadow realm last week. He did not touch the ball until the Packers' final two drives when they were up by 24 points. Before that, Lloyd was out-carrying Pierre Strong 10-5 and he had the team's only goal line carry. He scored the first and second touchdowns of his career. Lloyd looks like a two-down grinder on an offense with a 27.25 team total, the fourth-highest mark of the week. That's enough to get him in my lineups.

We're going back to the Tuten well. He didn't do much in Week 5, but the role drastically expanded. He saw 92 percent of the team's carries and his route rate hit 48 percent, both of which were season-highs. Tuten also set a new high-water mark in targets at three. It's a tough matchup versus Houston, but this is the type of role that should get Tuten in 100 percent of fantasy lineups.

Pierce is the running back streamer du jour this week. I'm not buying it. The Eagles as a team are 21st in yards before contact per attempt on running back carries. Their backs have been hit at or behind the line of scrimmage at the fourth-highest rate. They are 25th in backfield expected fantasy points. This is one of the worst situations in the league for running back production. Now we're expecting a fourth-string running back to make the most of the spot-start?

Bill is banged up and at least questionable for Week 5 with one DNP this week. Health aside, the Commanders are massive underdogs this week and don't run routes. JCM is averaging one catch per game on a weekly route rate of 23 percent. The Commanders are 7.5-point dogs on the road in San Francisco this week. This is as obvious of a fade spot as they come.

Wilson flopped last week with four catches for 30 yards. That sign would upset me if I could read. Wilson is still fourth among all wideouts in targets (51) and eighth in air yards (521). His matchup with the Rams this week is tough, but it's also perfect for creating meaningless fantasy production, which is what the Cardinals as an organization are built for. The game has a 51.5 total and Jacoby Brissett's prop for pass attempts is at 37.5, the second-highest mark of the week.

With Michael Pittman on IR and Roman Wilson exiting Week 5 early, Bernard not only stepped up as the Steelers' clear No. 2 receiver, but he may have also leapfrogged DK Metcalf . The rookie out-targeted Metcalf 9-4. Bernard's role as an underneath option fits much better with Aaron Rodgers ' current state than Metcalf's field-stretching style. Rodgers is 15th in accurate throw rate on attempts less than 10 yards downfield. He falls to dead last in accurate throw rate on attempts 10+ yards downfield.

It's over for Godwin. He's averaging 1.1 yards per route run and being targeted on 12 percent of his routes. His 2.8 aDOT is ahead of only Deebo Samuel , who has the YAC ability to make that type of role work. Chris Godwin has been a solid YAC producer this year, but he's not on Deebo's level. Godwin can be dropped in most redraft fantasy leagues.

The Patriots gave Doubs a contract worth as much as $80 million in the offseason and can't be bothered to get him the ball. He has a measly 16 percent target share and has been targeted on 15 percent of his routes. Josh McDaniel isn't even trying to design him looks either. He has seen 14 percent of the Pats' first-read targets this year. Efton Chism has the same first-read target share.

Freiermuth, not Metcalf, was the other beneficiary of the Steelers' avalanche of wide receiver injuries last week. He ran a season-high 79 percent of the total routes and earned 21 percent of the team's targets. Because Rodgers could only get things going on short and intermediate looks, Muth's 50 air yards were good for a 42 percent air yards share. He will continue to be heavily involved until the team gets healthy at wideout.

I'm falling for it again, but that's okay because I'm admitting it ahead of time. Kincaid was a bust again in Week 5, but he quietly logged an 82 percent route rate. That rate is nearly 20 percent higher than his best mark of 2025. He's still fifth in the NFL in yards per route run (2.5) and fifth in air yards share (20 percent). His team has a 29-point total and DJ Moore looks likely to sit again after missing the first two practices of the week. Stay in line. Start Kincaid.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse for Philly, Jalen Hurts gets ruled out with a blood clot in his calf. Tanner McKee is actually a solid backup quarterback, though he's still a likely downgrade from Hurts. The bigger issue is the impending return of DeVonta Smith , who accounted for 33 percent of the team's targets and nearly half of the air yards over the first three weeks. If Smith is back this week, the offense won't be big enough for both him and Goedert.

Eli Raridon has quietly forced a true committee at tight end in New England. He ran half of the routes last week, which dropped Henry to a route rate of 61 percent. Henry's season-long rate of 66 percent is 22nd among tight ends, and that number is buoyed by a high-volume Week 2 that saw Raridon leave early with an injury. Henry also ranks outside the top 20 tight ends in targets per route, meaning he's not seeing the field enough or earning enough targets to be a viable fantasy option.
