Rod Stewart has fans on his health as he gears up for his farewell tour, The Final Encore, which will see him back on the road in 2027.
The 81-year-old singer says his voice is better than ever, despite health problems that forced him to cancel several performances.

While speaking to The Sun, Stewart explained that while he’s no longer as energetic as he used to be, his voice remains strong.
“At 81, it’s quite remarkable. I can’t jump around like I used to when I was 32. But I think the audience knows that, vocally, I’m better now than I’ve ever been,” he said.
He also revealed how carefully he protects his voice, comparing it to the Crown Jewels. Stewart also explained that even a minor throat irritation can make him nervous about performing, as he does not want to risk losing his voice before a show.
Stewart Recalls Frightening Concert Incident

The “It’s a Heartache” singer also talked about a frightening moment during a concert in Utah earlier this year when he suddenly struggled to breathe.
During a performance at an amphitheatre approximately 4,300 feet above sea level, Stewart struggled to breathe and needed oxygen after almost fainting.
“I ran out and did three fast songs. All of a sudden, I was like, I couldn’t breathe. I got through the show, but it was painful,” he recalled.
His wife, Penny Lancaster, previously shared on Vanessa Feltz’s YouTube show At Home With Vanessa that doctors discovered an underlying heart issue after the incident. They detected a slight blockage, which was treated with a stent.
A Look at Stewart’s Routine and Recovery
Stewart reveals he takes his health seriously so he can stay fit enough to hit the stage, especially as he gets older.
He takes about an hour to prepare his body before a concert. It involves stretching, cycling, massages and warming up his voice. He also cycles three times a week and swims regularly at home to stay active.
He has also stopped drinking alcohol before performance, which was something he used to do during his younger days with the band. He is extra careful not to get sick now, even wearing white gloves when he goes out, because he wants to protect himself from colds and flu.
Stewart also spoke about his battle with prostate cancer, which he was diagnosed with about ten years ago. He says he’s now cancer-free and his PSA level.
‘The Final Encore’ Does Not Mean Complete Retirement
While Stewart is planning to leave long-scale concerts, he’s not completely moving away from music. His farewell tour, The Final Encore, will begin in Dublin on April 23, 2027, before heading to Glasgow on April 29. The UK tour will also include Birmingham, Manchester and London. More dates have been added because of strong demand for tickets.
When he announced the tour in September, he told fans: “The time has come to say farewell to life on the road. After more than six decades, The Final Encore will most definitely be my last.”
Even though Stewart wants to stop travelling around the world for tours, he still hopes to perform live in smaller venues.
