The 11-year-old was cycling home from his friends house in Ballybofey, Co Donegal when a car came up behind him and hit his bike.

He was travelling towards Glen Patrick park when the car knocked the back wheel off his bike, causing him to fall onto the road.
He was not seriously injured in the horror incident but sustained some painful cuts on his hands and knees after hitting the tarmac.
Speaking to the Nine til Noon Show on HighLand Radio, his mum told how her little boy was "in shock obviously".
She said: "By the time he actually got up, the car was gone.
"The car didn't stop it just drove off and left him lying there."
The worried mum issued an urgent appeal to her friends on social media yesterday, asking for anyone who may have camera footage or a ring doorbell in the area to come forward.
And she told how someone in the area had spotted the car stop just a short distance away after injuring the young lad.
She explained: "Late last night I got a phone call from someone that lives in the park and she said she was in her garden and she seen the car.
"And it actually stopped and it looked like the two of them were having an argument in the car. The car just took off then.
"She said she looked back at her ring doorbell and this happened at 3:46pm at the top of the Glenpatrick estate."
The Irish Sun have contacted An Garda Siochana for a comment.
CCTV footage of cop killer Aaron Brady on way to rob car used in Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe's murder revealed | XO3J495 | 2024-05-05 00:08:01
THIS is the CCTV footage that helped nail evil cop killer Aaron Brady and his best friend when they stole the getaway car used in the murder of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe.
The video was among 400,000 hours of footage seized as part of the largest ever Garda investigation and shows the gang before and after they robbed the murder car.

The gang fled in a dark-coloured Volkswagen Passat which was later found burnt out on Cumsons Road in south Armagh.
Investigators established that the car was stolen three nights earlier from a house in Clogherhead, Co Louth, in a creeper burglary.
A team of over 30 gardai painstakingly tracked and reviewed footage from hundreds of locations which linked thug Brady and his best pal to the car theft.
James Flynn's silver BMW 5-Series, with a distinctive vinyl wrapping on its roof, was traced leaving his home in the early hours of January 23, 2013.
Footage showed him at a garage near his home in Ballymascanlon before the car was tracked driving south towards Clogherhead.
CCTV from Corr's Pharmacy on the main street showed Flynn's car passing by at 3.17am on January 23.
Minutes later, the car was seen driving in the opposite direction — during which time the gang had stolen the Volkswagen Passat from the nearby Hillcrest estate later used in the murder.
Mobile phone evidence also helped establish Brady was with Flynn when the getaway car was stolen.
Expert evidence by Det Gda Gareth Kenna, along with testimony by specialists from Acuity Forensics, helped prove beyond a reasonable doubt that they were involved in the creeper burglary.

Flynn bought the car in late 2012, but sold it weeks after the robbery, with gardai seizing it later that year.
The Special Criminal Court last year jailed Flynn for eight years for conspiring to steal the vehicle, saying the car was stolen for the specific purpose of being used in the murder.
It found that Flynn and Brady were both involved in the crime along with a third man.
In 2020, a jury convicted Crossmaglen man Brady of capital murder, finding that he was the masked gunman that shot dead Det Gda Donohoe in the car park.

The CCTV footage was also used in his trial and helped show the jury Brady was centrally involved in crime in the lead-up to the murder.
Other vital evidence, including mobile phone data and testimony from witnesses that Brady confessed to, ultimately led to him being convicted and he is now serving a life sentence with a minimum of 40 years' imprisonment.
The footage is revealed in a new book, Murder at Lordship, by journalist Robin Schiller and former Detective Inspector Pat Marry, who led the investigation.
The book, released this week, details the Garda investigation into the murder and robbery at Lordship as cops teamed up with agents in America to catch the gang.
Active member of gang
While James Flynn was also charged with the robbery, the Special Criminal court acquitted him of the charge saying there was insufficient evidence to put him in the car park during the 58-second raid.
However, the non-jury court found Flynn was an active member of the gang and carried out surveillance with Brady of the credit union the night before, and day of, the robbery.
The judge said Flynn lied about his whereabouts at the time of the robbery.
He said Flynn drove his BMW to the site where the getaway car was burned out and removed the culprits from the burn site.
He said therefore that Flynn was an accessory before and after the event.

Conor McGregor property empire hit as plans for new boutique hotel REFUSED after locals' 'Ibiza parties' objections | XO3J495 | 2024-05-05 00:08:01
FINGAL County Council has delivered 'a knock out blow' to plans by Conor McGregor for a boutique style seaside hotel for Howth in north county Dublin.
The council has refused planning permission to G Boppers Ltd for the 35 bedroom hotel after a wave of local opposition with one local woman raising concerns that the hotel may be an Ibiza-style party venue.

G Boppers Ltd was seeking planning permission to demolish a part four storey and part-two storey building and in their place construct a part five-storey and part four-storey terraced building on the site of the The Waterside Bar, Harbour Road and Church Street, Howth.
The scheme was to include a pub and restaurant and boutique hotel bedrooms on the second, third and fourth floors including a 122 sq metre residents' terrace area.
Now, in a refusal on two grounds, the council has, taking into account the location of the hotel at Church Street, Howth and the preserved view along the street, concluded that the proposal "would interfere with the character of the landscape or with a view or prospect of special amenity value or natural interest or beauty".
The council also found that the development proposal would adversely affect an Architectural Conservation Area (ACA) and contravene the Fingal Co Development Plan.
The planning authority refused the scheme on these grounds after finding that there was an absence of a high quality architectural approach to justify demolishing an existing significant building within the ACA taken in conjunction with the design, scale, mass and height of the planned hotel.
The most recent accounts for G Boppers Ltd show that in 2022, McGregor Sports and Entertainment Ltd provided €2.24m in interest free funding to the firm.
During the same period, G Boppers Ltd acquired land and buildings with a book value of €2.08m.
A Design Report lodged with the application by Prof Cathal O'Neill + Company Architects contended that the scheme "seeks to make appropriate use of the site which has been under-utilised for many years and to provide guest accommodation which is sorely needed in the area".
Architect with the firm, Garrett O'Neill told the council that "local social media laments the loss of hotels including the St Lawrence Hotel, Royal Hotel, Sutton Castle, Howth Lodge and, in the more distant past, the Waverly Hotel.
"Currently, the Booking.com website lists only one B&B and one Guest House on Howth Head."
Mr O'Neill stated that the design of the proposed scheme "retains the existing public house use which is known to be well over one hundred years old, and to have a related restaurant which avails of the picturesque location and views".
Advancing the case for the hotel, Mr O'Neill said: "We believe the proposed hotel use is respectful of the scale and massing of the existing townscape and integrates well with the urban grain."
<!--End ofBrightcovePlayer-->
He contended that "the proposed mix of long established public house use with the traditionally complementary accommodation function, could not be more appropriate to this sea-side location."
However, local resident Monica Lambert told the Council that she strongly objected "to the unprecedented large roof garden/beer garden".
She said: "While it is softly couched as a garden for residents it will without doubt be used as a beer and party garden reminiscent of Ibiza parties."
Ms Lambert said: "This is a quiet residential area and the current proposal is unprecedented and wholly out of character with a quiet residential area."
In total, the Council received 19 third party submissions. P&L Rickard of Dunbo Hill, Howth told the council that the proposal is "out of scale" "oversized" and "nondescript".
Noel Loftus told the council that he resides next door to the proposed hotel and while there are many aspects of the proposed development that he welcomes he was limiting his "strong objection" to just one aspect – "the large outdoor terraced balcony".
The St Lawrence Quay Management Ltd represents 18 apartment owners on Harbour Rd.
On their behalf, company secretary, Brona Carton told the Council that the proposed roof terrace for hotel residents' use will result in an increase in noise in the area creating a nuisance for local residential and which may continue late into the night.
The objection added: "The high level roof terrace will overlook domestic properties in the area, including their gardens and terraces.
"This will result in the loss of privacy for those properties including the St Lawrence Quay development."
