Southampton are closing in on appointing their new sporting director following Jason Wilcox's departure for Manchester United. Mail Sport understands Johannes Spors, who was linked with the Newcastle sporting director's role in the summer, is among those who have been seriously considered for the leading role with the St Mary's side. Wilcox left Southampton to take up the role as technical director at Old Trafford in April and the process of replacing the now United exec has been ongoing.
