
Cheltenham Festival boss Guy Lavender insists he'll halt big drop in crowds - but claims this year was still a success
Guy Lavender, Cheltenham's new Chief Executive, is determined to halt the significant drop in crowd figures but insisted this year's Festival should be deemed a success. There was a crowd of 68,026 on Boodles Gold Cup day, taking the cumulative attendance to 218,839 for the four-days. 12 months ago, the figure was just short of 230,000. On Wednesday, the lowest Festival crowd figure of the last 25 years was recorded when 41,949 came through the gates.
