Cricket Australia launches proposal to 'scrap' iconic 42,000-seater stadium as a Test match venue

Cricket Australia have announced that they, alongside the Brisbane Lions, will be submitting proposals to replace the Gabba with a stadium that can support both Test matches and AFL games for the next 50 years. The Gabba has hosted Test cricket since 1931 but in recent years, it has been widely agreed that there is a need to update and modernise the ageing venue to bring it in line with other state-of-the-art sporting arenas around the country.
