Wayne Rooney has released a lengthy statement after being sacked by Plymouth. On Tuesday morning, the Championship side confirmed that they had parted ways with the former England striker - with the side sat bottom of the table. Rooney oversaw 25 matches in all competitions, with his side having recorded just five wins, and took a moment to thank fans for their support during his time there. The departing Rooney said: 'I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Board of Plymouth Argyle Football Club, in particular Simon Hallett and Neil Dewsnip who I shared great relationships with.
