Wayne Rooney has been sacked as Plymouth Argyle manager with the club languishing at the bottom of the Championship table. The former England and Manchester United captain was appointed to the Devon-based outfit over the summer, for his third stint in the English second-tier after managing Derby and Birmingham. Rooney oversaw only 25 matches in all competitions, with his side having recorded just five wins. Plymouth are currently bottom of the Championship with four wins this season, with the Pilgrims having suffered 13 league defeats.
