King Charles has pledged to serve the Commonwealth 'to the most effective of my means' in his first video message since his cancer diagnosis.

The monarch, 75, has recorded a short message& for Commonwealth Day which celebrates the Commonwealth of Nations, mainly former British territories.

Since his diagnosis was revealed early last month, the king has postponed all public-facing engagements.

Queen Camilla will attend a Westminster Abbey service as an alternative followed by a reception on the Commonwealth's international headquarters.

His handle, which shall be proven in full this afternoon to attendees, will stress how 'variety' is the 'power' of the 56 Commonwealth nations.

The 'family of free and unbiased nations', the monarch will add, is a 'valuable source of power, inspiration and delight'.

'In current weeks, I have been most deeply touched by your wonderfully sort and considerate good wishes for my health and, in return, can only proceed to serve you, to the most effective of my capacity, all through the Commonwealth,' the King will say.

He added: 'My perception in our shared endeavours and within the potential of our individuals remains as positive and powerful because it has ever been.

'I have little question that we'll continue to help one another throughout the Commonwealth as, collectively, we continue this very important journey.'

Prince William will even be a part of at this time's service, though Kate Middleton can be absent as she recovers from abdominal surgery.

Different senior royals together with the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Royal, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and the Duke of Kent may also attend.

The service recognises the 75th anniversary& of the Commonwealth, with the king additionally using his speech to spotlight the continued upheaval brought on by local weather change.

'As I've stated before, the Commonwealth is like the wiring of a home, and its individuals, our power and our ideas are the current that runs by way of these wires,' he'll say within the clip.

'Collectively and individually we're strengthened by sharing views and experiences, and by offering and borrowing the myriad ways we've got every tackled the challenges of our time.

'This is true both at the degree of countries and, indeed, on the native degree. We recognise right now that our variety is our biggest power.'

'Wherever we stay, we're united by the various challenges we face, whether or not it's climate change, the lack of nature, or the social and economic modifications that new applied sciences are bringing,' the speech will add.
