A previous research claimed the gargantuan creature weighed 187,000 to 750,000 kilos.
That's double that of a giant modern-day blue whale.
A brand new research just lately revealed in the journal PeerJ challenges this concept.
The group behind the research thinks the ancient whale is extra more likely to have weighed 130,000 to 250,000 kilos.
Researchers analyzed the older research and made 3D fashions of Perucetus colossus and blue whales.
They needed to see how such an unlimited whale would have moved within the ocean.
"With their weight, this animal could not stay at the surface," lead writer Ryosuke Motani, a paleobiologist at the College of California, Davis, advised Live Science.
"This animal would have been swimming vertically up all the time, which is inconceivable."
"There's specific fascination with identifying higher measurement extremes in the largest vertebrates, given the challenges and difficulties of measuring extant and extinct candidates for the most important animal of all time, similar to whales, terrestrial non-avian dinosaurs, and extinct marine reptiles," the researchers wrote.
Paelontogolist Eli Amson was the leader of the primary research.
