Judd Nelson is sending his greatest wishes to ex-girlfriend Shannen Doherty as she continues to battle stage 4 cancer.
"She's an actual survivor. I mean, I don't know if that's an excellent thing typically," Nelson, 64, solely informed Us Weekly on Sunday, March 10, while attending the Youngsters Uniting Nations 24th Annual Academy Awards Celebration and Viewing Dinner in Beverly Hills. "Because she's going to battle it. You realize what I mean? It's like, I really have great empathy for her and I really want her the most effective."
Nelson, who dated Doherty, 52, briefly in 1993, shared his belief that "phrases of hope" are "all the time necessary" in terms of recovery.
"We don't really know yet whether or not this constructive angle about well being will the truth is make us feel better," he defined. "However there's some evidence that says in the event you assume you're going to get sick, you're in all probability going to get sick."
Shannen Doherty's Dating History
Nelson noted that till a current run-in two months in the past, he hadn't seen Doherty "in a while." While their encounter was temporary and sudden, the Breakfast Club alum gushed about getting to catch up with his former flame.
"It was good," he recalled of the impromptu hangout. Although they didn't speak about her well being, he added: "She appeared great. Was humorous as hell, she all the time is."
Doherty was initially diagnosed with cancer in 2015. After two years of chemotherapy, the actress revealed she was in remission. Nevertheless, the most cancers returned in 2020 as stage IV breast cancer. In November 2023, Doherty revealed that the most cancers had spread to her bones.
"I don't need to die," the Charmed alum advised Individuals later that month. "I'm not carried out with dwelling. I'm not executed with loving. I'm not executed with creating. I'm not executed with hopefully changing issues for the better."

In January 2024, Doherty shared she was feeling hopeful after seeing progress in her newest remedy.
"I'm on a brand new most cancers infusion, and after four remedies, we didn't actually see a difference and everyone needed me to modify, and I just kinda was like, 'We're gonna maintain going with this and see,'" she informed her radiation oncologist Dr. Amin Mirhadi on her "Let's Be Clear" podcast. "And yeah, after the sixth or seventh remedy, we really saw it breaking down the blood-brain barrier."
Doherty referred to as her physique's response to the new remedy a "miracle" and chose to continue the infusions after consulting her medical group.
